OK... first off... I SUCK. I haven't blogged in forever and there is so much to share with everyone!
Let's start off by announcing that I have a new job and so does Drew! Yes, you have read that correctly, Drew has a job! He will be working at a CPA firm in Renton so he will be ready to do taxes come next tax season and I am now working for Amazon in their Seattle office (Main headquarters). I have been there for the past month now and it's still an adjustment of waking up, taking a bus for an hour, getting used to the corporate feel and working for the legal department. So far I love it and it's been good. There are times I feel all I do is work, but it's been really fun to learn new things and adjust to the new systems and so far so good! Whoo Hoo!!!

So in honor of the new accomplishments in our lives... I decided to break some bread. Ok we didn't break bread to celebrate, but I have been on a cooking/baking kick and my newest recipe involves making homemade artisan bread. I'm a sucker for good fresh bread and bought some new soup bowls so I'm hoping once I master the recipe I will make some french onion soup... mmmmm... If you are in the market for good bread, make it yourself and buy this book (of course on Amazon.com and get a food storage container while at it... you will need it for the master recipe)... A co-worker told me about this book and I want it so bad. She sharted the master recipe with me but I want this book really bad...

Within the book, it tells you tips and secrets on how to make the bread recipe with only 4 ingredients (Flour, salt, yeast, water). It can't be any simplier and you mix in within the food container...

It's Phoebe!!!!

For the past 3 years (this year included) I have made a cake for Phoebe. I have to get very creative because my first cake (Princess Cake) was awesome and I have to continue to top it. Last year was the Pumpkin and this year is the Dirt Cake. She's now gluten free so I made everything with gluten free oreos (Glutinos). They still taste like the real stuff. So yummy!!!!

This weekend I went over to Chelan to attend my co-worker, Dan's, wedding. His bride Stephanie is a doll and she looked GOREGOUS! It was first time I have ever been to Chelan and I know now why people go there to vacation. It's a beautiful place to visit. Congrats to the happy couple!

My good friends Kim & Gavin had an extra ticket to the Storm Woman's basketball game last Sunday and what the heck, I went to it. I don't know much about woman's basketball and it's definately not one of the sports I would like to watch but I've never been to a game so you have to try everything once. It was actually a good game. Someone famous named Nancy Liberman was there, don't know who she is, we had great seats like 3 rows on the main floor, the Storm won and I got Ivar's at the game. Nothing to complain about.

Got some free thundersticks at the game. Let's Go Storm!

Started off great with a new addition. Kim (No, You're Funny blog) had her baby boy. I went to see her at the hospital and brought her some amazing flowers from the Pike Place market. Definately will buy more because for a HUGE bouquet I got it for $10!!!! Congrats Kim/Colby/Elleanor and welcome Baylor. And for a sneak preview.... this will be coming to you Kimmie :)

Recap (part 2) - July

Now onto July....

After Vegas, I had another week back home to celebrate the Fourth of July celebration. From what I remember, I think I fell asleep around 10 and missed the entire firework show but woke up to my neighbors shooting some off so I got to hear them. After that it was off to Hawaii!!!! Yes I'm spoiled and have been to a lot of sunny warm places. hee hee

Hawaii was not only just for vacationing but also for my sister's wedding, YEAH! Lanny my older sister got married to Jason who is wonderful. They are so a like (it's scary) and so happy. Drew flew in from Arizona and met me at the airport. Jason, Lanny, Lammy, Chae and I were all on the same flight from Seattle and Drew met us in Hawaii. The airport on Kona is tiny, not like Seattle where you get lost.

Here is us having lunch at Bubba Gump. I had fish and chips and Drew had this stuffed shrimp and the stuffing was a mixture of lobster and cheese. So tasty. We sat right by the water.

Me and Drew. My hair was so nice. Jenna who is Lanny's good friend is a hair stylist and did all of our hair. It was amazing!

The family. The mommas and Jason's grandma wore traditional Korean outfits. They are called hanbok and are made of silk. Traditionally the colors represent things, but I don't know what they mean, all I know is they look so beautiful. GORGEOUS!

The day after the wedding, the entire family on both sides went sight seeing. Jason's parents lived in Kona and knew the area so they were our tour guides. It was such a nice day. We first went to this village area and walked around the Hilton. WHAT an amazing hotel... I got to meet a new friend... his name was Pablo.

Then we went to a lookout place on the Northside of Kona. The weather was so strange. First it was sunny and nice then it was like Seattle... 60 and cold and RAINY!

Aren't my parents the cutest things you have ever seen? I look just like my dad... scary!

What a great time in Hawaii. Thanks family & congrats Unnie and Jason. Then it was officially back to being home and getting back into life. That was really hard as I was utterly spoiled... I want to go back!

Recap (part 1) - June

First off, let me just say that I SUCK! Life has been so crazy lately that I have neglected the thing that keeps my brain in check at times. It helps me remember what I did over weekends and keeps my family/friends updated on our life. So here are my recaps for the past 2 months... (TOTALLY MY BAD for not posting this sooner).

June started off very typical. Jazzercise teaching every Monday/Wednesday evening maybe throwing a curveball here and there to teach some Tuesday or Thursdays but I finally got some down time to visit a few places...

Went to Arizona to visit Drew and while there we went to the Grand Canyon. The drive was around 3 hours (maybe more) I was sleeping most of the time so I don't remember much of it. Drew told me it was really boring... haha. We got up early to have lunch at the El Tovar Restaurant. So nice!

Right after my visit to Arizona, I had 1 week back in Seattle to get back into the swing of things then pack up to head to Las Vegas for a Jazzercise convention. Yes, you did read that correctly.... I went to a JAZZERCISE CONVENTION. haha 3,000+ woman around the world to wiggle on the dance floor. I went with Kim, my best friend, and her huby, Gavin, and Drew drove up to visit. I didn't get many chances to take any pics on the trip but Kim, Gavin and I ended up going to see the Britney Spears Concert... again yes you did read that correctly.

Oops I did it again... hahaha

This was her ender and Nicki Minaj opened for her and overall it was a great show.

Last Sunday was a very special day for our good friends, Dwayne and Tanya. We have known them for over 5 years through the baseball team and Tanya has been one of my closest friends both on and off the field. Her son, Samuel, graduated from Seattle Christian last Sunday. His graduating class was only 50 people. Much much different compared to my 150+ people graduation almost 11 years ago (I know I'm OLD!!!) Each person was presented individually and had a nice speech of what they will be doing next year and in the future. Samuel will be attending Bellevue College next fall. We are so proud of him!

Last week, Jonah, one of the baseball teammates, asked me to go to the Bruno Mars concert in downtown Seattle. Who wouldn't say no to a free concert ticket? I'm not the biggest Bruno Mars fan, but I do enjoy some of his songs, so what the heck... I went and saw him.

The WAMU theater was super crowded, all general admission seating/standing so we go to get really close to him for his entire show. Note, camera on my phone is not the greatest... recently I have been forgetting my camera at my house (I know, I'm horrible). But you can get an idea how close we got. You can almost see his sweat.

Overall the show was really good, he sounds AMAZING live. I even might think he's better live than on his CDs.

Flash mob

This Saturday, over 200+ Jazzercise members (including a couple instructors) shocked the Redmond community and did a Flash mob. There have been other Flash Mobs around the world and the Washington area wanted to join in on the fun. Drew's first post, and another milestone event

Yes, this is both Lana and Drew's blog, but up to now, every post has been made by Lana. If figured it was time I finally contributed. So let me share my Sunday afternoon with you. First, let's set the scene:

Daniel Hudson is on the mound for the Diamondbacks. The Cubs have

jumped out to an early lead, and Geovany Soto stands on second

base after a two-out double.

At bat is the Cubs' pitcher, Casey Coleman.

(I had never heard of him before yesterday, either).

Here comes the 2-1 pitch.

Being a pitcher, and not a very good hitter, Coleman is

late on a fastball and fouls it off down the third base side

The ball is heading out of play, due to land somewhere around Section 131, Row 24.

As a group of guys fumble over each other attempting to catch the ball (1), all the while spilling beer over themselves and dropping their cell phones, a guy in a gray shirt and red hat (2) waits patiently for the ball.

Here's a closer look at the action.

The ball bounces once, then seems to hang in the air, until it is

snatched away by the aforementioned guy in the gray shirt and red hat.

And there you have it.

I got a foul ball last year (under very similar circumstances) in a Spring Training game, but this was my first one ever in the regular season. I went to my first Mariners game when I was a week old, and by a rough estimate, I have been to somewhere around 300 Major League games. I took me 28 1/2 years to get my first foul ball, and all of one year to get my second. I am still waiting for the one where I have to stick my bare hand in front of a 100-mph line drive. If that ever happens, I will definitely make it my second blog post.

Moving time

It's official... I HAVE MOVED!!!!

It's crazy to think in just 3 months when I started to pack, that this day will come. I got the Uhaul at 8AM and was ready to go. Overall, I will never move into another place with stairs, after the 50th time up and down our 3 flights, I was DONE! My shoulders/arms still feel the pain.

Getting into the new digs... it's super bright with the sunlight. I love the natual light. The best thing is that it's on the main floor and there is a back entrance with a sliding door and it made the move into the place super easy and quick. Here is the before of the main living area. Yes that is the tank, the 5 fish made just fine.

And Lucky was there to help. She was making sure the futon felt comfy. "Woof, woof" = I love it!

After Lammy and Chae helped with the move, Kim, Gavin & Phoebe came to help decorate and unpack. They bought me new drapes, helped put all of my pictures up and also made me dinner... the awesome Didi chicken... Love it! Phoebe was a pro with unpacking our DVD's... note, I'm blockbuster, Phoebe was a trooper putting it all into the shelves.

Kim and Gavin are working hard in the kitchen. Phoebe thought Gavin was wearing a pink apron... it's orange but Gavin looks so manly in it. Cute!

Gavin put up the drapes in the bedroom. After the first night, I had to half the drapes to give an extra layer to make the room super dark. The sun comes directly in and makes it super bright.

And the move wouldn't be complete without a casuality, the vacuum decided it had it's last who-rah and only made it half way during the move. Everyone, please pay your respects to the Eureka

The next day I went into Best Buy and bought a new vacuum.. it's BLUE! I did some research and this vacuum was the best bagged budget vacuum out there. I'm a big fan of bagged vacuums, hate the dust cloud from emptying the canister. So please welcome the new addition to the home.

I'll post more pictures of the place. It's like 80% put together. Just need to put together the computer and I will be done. I love it and my neighbors are super nice. Actually one of my neighbors, Katie, went graduated highschool with us! How small world is that?

So I would like to say, I suck at blogging lately. I think the combination of a really sucky winter + being sick just made me very lazy. I know, no more excuses... Just I SUCK. Well no more... I'm going to try and catch up everyone.

First off, Drew is in AZ. He has been there for quite some time now. He has an internship working at a CPA firm during the tax season and will be there until things get settled for him. We talk a lot and he has sent me pics of his adventures.

SURPRISE SUPRISE... a baseball game. haha. Drew went to the new stadium for the Diamondbacks which is really close to the inlaws home. Awesome weather. Let's just say that it snowed here in WA last night.... isn't it April?

As for me.... I'm moving!!!! I know I've already blog about it, but I never got around to say why I'm moving. Our lease is up and they have raised the rent and overall the place is just TOO big. So I've found a place more suited and it's WONDERFUL. I got the keys on April 1st, the landlords have been super nice and let me move in so I have enough time to get everything settled. So for the past week I have been very busy. This weekend I got the entire kitchen moved and my goal by the end of this week was to get my entire closet moved... CHECK AND CHECK... the uhaul will be picked up on Sunday and the BIG MOVE will be here before I know it. I am SO ready to be moved. Currently I'm living with no kitchen stuff.. so the only food items I have are 5 bottles of water, an apple and 2 bags of microwave popcorn. I'm ready to cook in my new place, I have an itch to make some empanadas or bulgogi. Anyone is welcomed to come over!!!

Phoebe and I had a craft night. She went to Joann and found this no sew fleece blanket that screamed Phoebe. She's a huge cat love and I guess you can say that this fabric was PURR-fect. hee hee

New digs!

So the lease to our place is up April 19th and it's time for us to move to our next digs. After searching, I have found the ONE. kind of like finding your wedding dress you just know when it's right and this is totally right!

I found an ad on Craigslist and found a cute 2 bed/1 bath place nearby our current place and within 2 days of looking and calling around, I saw the place this weekend and put in an application and today just found out...

I GOT IT!!!

This year Drew and I spent it apart but we still got each other gifts. I forgot to take a picture of what I got him before I sent it but it was a webcam, dress socks and conversation hearts. The webcam has come in handle these past week and we have been using it a lot. Drew got me

A puzzle (WHOO HOO!!) and a really sweet card. I can't wait to open it.. oh wait, already started it. hee hee

But to celebrate, Lammy, Chae and I all got together yesterday and got together and I brought over some special presents. For lucky:

Kim brought me homemade meals (YUM) since I've been having issues cooking for myself and homemade preztels (so impressive) and tulips. So pretty.

Lammy, Chae and Lucky gave me that cute penguin, I still need a name for it, candy and another puzzle. that makes it now 5 puzzles... i love it.

Oh up close with the preztels. See how awesome they are. Kim didn't make them, their good friend, Joquim made them. WOW... watch out Martha.

And this morning I came into the office with a beautiful valentine's card from Elleanor. It was the cutest picture of her with a lollipop. I didn't take a pic of it because it immediately made the wall on my desk. It was that great!

It was a great v-day. Thanks everyone for making me feel special. LOVE YOU ALL!

Do you ever have one of those moments when you wished you were the one that invented something? I have that ALL the time... the biggest one is still Post-It Notes because I used the everyday. Without those things I would be lost.

Well I just had another one of those Huh, why not me moments with the following 3 ingredients (sorry used my camera phone, it's a little blurry)

With these 3 little ingredients someone invented one of the greatest desserts in the WORLD... That's right, Rice Krispy Treats. Seriously... huh.. why not me!!!

I have these ingredients because I'm going to have dinner with Ryan, Kiersten & Silas tonight. I was told to bring dessert and Kiersten and I are in love with Rice Krispy Treats. Maybe we should just skip dinner and go straight to dessert! haha Can't wait to see you guys!

Catch-up

Sorry for not posting for awhile, I've been very boring lately. With Drew in Arizona, he should be one taking the pics and updating the blog. He's been mainly dog sitting, Sonic, Doug and Bri's dog, getting adjusted to the lay of the land in Arizona and this week he just started his internship. Exciting times for him.

As for me, I'm lame. I've been cooking only 1 meal a week and eating the leftovers through the week, teaching Jazzercise (always fun) and making A LOT of puzzles. I found the artist that I like, his name is Charles Wysocki. The first puzzle I made of his was when Drew came and visited in January. We made that in 2 days, and then we bought another and I made that in another 2 days. I get obsessed with puzzles. LOVE THEM! So far I'm up to 6 puzzles I've made since January, some of them I remake over and over again. Oh last week (sorry no pics) I went to lunch at Ryan & Kiersten's place. I accidentally woke up late, thanks Ryan for waking me up (oops) and had this awesome chili made with chipolte pepper and adobe spice. Super tasty. They also had a puzzle with elephants that I was helping them with. I got a nice chunk done. I am seeing them next week, maybe I'll help them again and hopefully get that puzzle completed. Silas is getting so big. He's already 14lbs!!!! Such a sweet baby. I can just gobble him up.

So if you have any puzzles you want to spare, let me know... I want to make them!!! I can reimburse with some yummy sweet treats :)

This past Saturday, we went to one of the final high school friend's weddings (maybe... depending if Wil proposes anytime soon, hint hint). Anyhoo, Dave has been friends with Drew since they were like 5 or babies and I'm so happy that he found Jen. She's so cute and was glowing!

PS, I forgot my camera... I know, horrible, but I did have my phone. Hope these pics will do justice on how beautiful the wedding was.

Dave/Jen did a Jewish ceremony. They were under the chuppah which is the bridal canopy. The flowers were gorgeous!

Here comes the bride. Jen was wearing a one strap rushed dress. She found in Spokane of all places. So cool. She looked amazing.

Couple time... Here's me and Drew. I was head to toe in Target wear. This is my newest dress. It's a halter top dress and only cost me $15! Thanks Kimmie for finding it for me!

And last but not least, the group shot of the highschool friends. This is tradition that I make sure we get at every wedding we go to. At this point, we are all married which is the first for this group! From left to right: Anthony (married Sept 2007), Paul (married June 2010), Dave (just married) and Drew (married Aug 2006). I guess Drew and I set the trend. haha

Also to annouce, Drew has gotten an internship in Arizona! Congrats to him, but it means he will be gone for the next 3 months working while I'm going to stay in Seattle. We hope this will lead to a permanent job so stay tuned... a move might be in the mix for 2011.

What I learned in 7th grade science class... a hypothesis always is an If... then statement. Well... here's one for you:

If anyone knows me, then my all time favorite dessert is cupcakes. Is this true?

OH MY YES IT IS TRUE!!! And my most favorite cupcake is from this place:

Yes it's Cupcake Royale. It's my all time favorite cupcake place. These were the same ones I had at my wedding.

I finally visited their new location in Bellevue. I mean, OMG, don't you want all of them? The staff was SUPER friendly. Thank you Sierra & Tanya for letting me sample.

And plus they had a special... I had to get some. YUM!

What a crazy year! Like the past 2 years, I have made my new years resolutions. Last year was to run the Seattle Half marathon and Drew and I kicked butt during that, so this year I have made a new goals...

1) Continue to run without using a marthon as a goal. Just overall stay healthy and try to lose some weight. Maybe 20 pounds.. that's asking for much but I'll be happy with even 5lbs.

2) Eat breakfast everyday... this will be the hardest one for me. Unlike Drew who can get up with just 1 alarm snooze, I like to snooze at least for 30 minutes or more and never have time to eat breakfast. So starting this year I will try and have at least a piece of toast and peanut butter to kick start my day.

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday. I haven't updated in a while, sorry. Life has been really hectic around here for us.

Here are some things you have missed...

I've decided to go back into my crafting and knit Jason (Lanny's boyfriend) a scarf. Here is the yarn, I guess it will have a little bit of Lucky in it. She liked the ball of yarn so much, I made her one for her very own so she doesn't take mine.

This is the yarn I'm using. Nice color and super soft.

I had to chase Lucky. She liked it so much and thought it was a toy. so what did I do?

Made her one of her own. haha so cute, how can you get mad at a face like that?

Next up is dinner with Kim/Colby/Elleanor's family. They were awsome hosts. Elle didn't have a bib, so we just had her eat nakey at the table with us. Look at her plate, Go CO--- (sorry I can't finish that sentence!)

And then last but not least... my car hit a milestone! It has taken almost 4 1/2 years but it finally did it!!!

WE DID IT!!!

Today was the BIG day!!! Drew and I woke up around 5:30AM and got on the road to Seattle and made it there in plenty of time before our 7:45AM start and boy was it COLD!!! BRRRR!!!!!

When we got there, I noticed that our bib showed we signed up for the Half Marathon Walk, me forgetting that I signed us up this way because Drew's back was still questionable at the time we signed up so I thought it was safer for me to do it this way... well little did I know. Drew and I were totally prepared and we started 15mins after the Half Marathon runners and guess what... we past SEVERAL runners and caught up with the pack and ran about 99% of the time. Screw the "walk" aspect. There were 3 times where we took a short pause (like 1 min or 30 secs to breathe) but overall we ran the entire 13.1 miles and we did an un-official time of 2 hours 17 minutes, which is around a 10 minute mile.

HOLY MOLY!!! It's finally here! Drew and I picked up our registration packet and goodie bag yesterday night. It's official, we are running our half marathon in less than 12 hours! Wish us luck!!!! OH BOY!!!

Due to our half marathon we are running, Drew and I started here for the holiday and spent Thanksgiving with our friends. We did a potluck style dinner and I was in charge of bringing the mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes & rolls. The night before, Drew and I made our stuff, doesn't it look tasty?

The mashed potatoes are the BEST. The recipe is from the Pioneer Woman. If you haven't checked her out, it's a definate MUST. The sweet potatoes are from cooking light. It was hard to distinguish if it was a dessert or a side. All tasty.

We arrived early for the feast and spent the entire time catching up and watching football.

I just returned from office depot, yes I was one of the crazies to wake up before the sun comes out looking for the hottest deals. I was in the market for a laptop and I guess the entire rest of my neighborhood was as well. I got there around 530 am when the doors open at 6am and I was the 60th person in line. Holy cow... I guess I don't know how to do black Friday shopping properly. But in the end, I got a laptop (not the one I wanted) but it was still a very nice one. I'm home and wondering what I just did and all I can think about is who's idea was to invent this holiday?

Doesn't this look like a piece of art? I just feel terrible to eat it but it was oh so tasty! Last night after babysitting, I was given a special treat by the girls Grandma. The grandparents are in town and she made her version of Mooncake which is (straight from Wikipedia) "a Chinese bakery products traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival / Zhongqiu Festival. The festival is for lunar worship and moon watching; moon cakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy on this occasion. Mooncakes are offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four most important Chinese festivals.

Typical mooncakes are round or rectangular pastries, measuring about 10 cm in diameter and 4-5 cm thick. A thick filling usually made from lotus seed paste is surrounded by a relatively thin (2-3 mm) crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs. Mooncakes are usually eaten in small wedges accompanied by Chinese tea. Today, it is customary for businessmen and families to present them to their clients or relatives as presents[1], helping to fuel a demand for high-end mooncake styles. Although uncertain, moon cake calorie intake can vary by the filling and size with many other variations."

Her filling was really good. The right blend of red bean and nuts & seeds. So tasty. Thank you Grandma Wang!

Congrats to Ryan and Kiersten. Baby Silas was born October 11, weighing 9lbs 15oz. BIG BABY and we finally met our newest "newphew"!!! He definately does not look like a 1 week baby and he was absoutely adorable!!! We went over to their house yesterday and brought them dinner and presents. The hat I made doesn't fit him, that's ok. Time to make new ones.

Pumpkin cake

Just like last year, I decided to make another birthday cake for Phoebe, Kim (my best friend's daughter). Phoebe turned 8 this year, HOLY MOLY! Her birthday party theme was Halloween, and I stayed with the theme and made her a Pumpkin Kitty Cat Cake. Phoebe loves cats and I just incorporated 2 ideas into one.

I love boxed cake mix (who doesn't). Next year I'll try and make her a REAL homemade cake no boxes or frosting cans. I started with 2 boxes of chocolate fudge cake (Phoebe's favorite flavor) and baked them in 9" rounds pans. I layered them with white vanilla frosting and started to carve.

I know it looks samon colored. Next time, I will get the real Orange coloring stuff. I thought the red drops/yellow drops of food coloring will do.... note to self, always get the real stuff.

Here is a new recipe that I tried last week for a lighten version of Beef Stroganoff. It was awesome! You would never guessed it was light. Definately a must try recipe!

I finally got a chance to experience the hipe of the Puyallup Fair this weekend. Through my radio winnings, I got 4 free passes to the fair and I took Kimmie & Colby & Elleanor to the fair. I have been talking about going and that I'm so excited about it for weeks! We lucked out as it was a GORGEOUS day.

We met up at Kim & Colby's in the morning. Kim was a saint... we got us a pre-fair treat!

Have you ever seen or hear of Coconut M&M's? They are WONDERFUL! I LOVE THEM!

Two weeks ago, we celebrated Dwayne's 50th birthday in style. Dwayne and Drew have been playing on the same baseball team the past 5 years. We have become really close friends with them. Tanya, Dwayne's wife, has been planning this surprise party for over 2 years and finally the day came. At first we didn't know if Dwayne was going to come at all... at first, Tanya had a great plan to get one of Dwayne's friends to get him to go play some billards at Jillians (a local spot in Seattle), but the baseball team started to win a lot during the playoffs which caused a big schedule conflict because they had a game the same day as the party. Tanya was a mess. She and I texted all week trying to figure Plan B to get him to the party, his car and gear back to the house, etc... well what do you know, the game got rained out!!! Someone up there was looking out for Tanya, so plan A was back in order.

All of Dwayne's family, friends, co-workers showed up 30 minutes before the surprise and I guess it worked because he was FLOORED!!!

It's football season!!! WHOO HOO!!! Yesterday, our good friends, Kim & Gavin, took us to the first home UW football game for this year. Gotta go watch my Dawgs go for the "W". We are now 1-1 this year.

A lot of you have asked me what exactly did I win when I was dueling it out on "Battle of the Sexes" on Star 101.5 and I'm so sorry that I forgot to post this WAY earlier. Just an FYI about the prize packages which I didn't know about, but every week you play, you can only win 1 prize package for that week. Even though I thought I was winning every day I was playing, nope, I only got a total of 3 prize packages because my first day I played on Thursday which was the last day to play for that particular week, and then the following week I played all week, but I coule only get 1 prize package for that entire week, so that was my 2nd package and the 3rd was for playing just that Monday the following week then I lost. But heck, I still won an amazing assortment of prizes (some aren't displayed, sorry):

- 2 tickets to see American Idol Live Tour (gave to a friend, I'm not an Idol fan)

- 4 passes to the Woodland Park Zoo

- 4 passes to "Takers" the movie

- 4 passes to the Circus

- $50 gift card to Taphouse Grill

- 2 tickets to see Melissa Ethridge (tried to sell these but no hope, it was on my birthday)

Oregon Coast here we come!

For Labor Day weekend, Drew and I decided it was time for us to take a nice vacation. What better place to visit than the beach! Our friends have told us great things about the Oregon Coast and what perfect timing! Drew was able to get Saturday & Sunday off for the weekend and we left around 4:30PM on Friday to Seaside and finally got to our hotel around 9:30PM. We stopped in Chehallis at a restaurant called Spiffy's. We wanted to stop at a mom and pop down home style place and this was exactly that. The food was ok but overall it was a nice place to go. But finally after the 5 hour drive (all by Drew, I was sleeping most of the time), we got to our hotel room in Seaside. We stayed at the Rivertide Suites which was really nice. We had a full kitchen, laundry machine (which was broken) and a full living room.

Say hi Drew... sorry the lighting was HORRIBLE! But you can see we have a full kitchen. So cute!

We go around the corner and there was a full couch which pulled out into a full bed and right next to it was the bed. I was really looking forward to sleeping in a cozy bed after the 5 hour ride, I was beat!

The next morning, we went down Broadway which is the main strip in Seaside and found:

BREAKFAST!!!!! We got there at the perfect time.... wait was only 5 minutes and we got nice table right by the window. I got their "Junior meal" which was still HUGE! 3 pancakes, 2 sausage links & 1 egg. Oh I did get a side of hashbrowns, but still all of that was just the "junior" size.

Then it was time to walk to the beach and enjoy the view and sites:

At the Aqaurium, we got a $1 coupon from our hotel to feed the Seals. They are so cute! One got up close and person with us.

So cute! After getting splashed by the seals, we went to the actual aquarium. It's a lot smaller than I imagined, but I managed to find some things to do to keep me occupied:

This is the main attraction (besides the seals) at the aquarium. Meet the giant octopus. The entire time, all I could think about was dinner... I guess my stomach was trying to tell me it was time for lunch. I already knew where I wanted to go for lunch, but first I had to work myself into an appetite. We started to walk down Broadway and found the arcade. Drew and I played air hockey, he beat me 7-5 (close), but the cream of the crop game was, wack a whale... sorry it had to be ocean themed. Drew and I both played:

By now, I am definately hungry. Time for:

CORN DOG!!! YUM!!!! My co-worker told me about this place. Couldn't resist a freshly made corn dog!

After lunch, it was time for some shopping. First up, the candy store to buy some salt water taffy:

Over 160 flavors! How do you decide??? I got a nice big bag and will be bringing some to my co-workers. After the candy shop, Drew and I went back to the hotel to rest, I took a nice 1 hour nap, and then it was off to the outlets to shop! We got some yummy things at Harry and David and found some outfits for our friends for baby gifts. No tax... can't beat it! After shopping, Drew and I decided to take a nice drive to Cannon Beach. We took our books, blanket & chair and found a nice spot:

We stayed in Cannon Beach for a couple hours just relaxing and reading until we both got hungry for dinner. We were craving seafood and went to Dooger's on Broadway. It was mighty tasty!! I had the captain's plate with all sorts of goodies and Drew got surf and turf. Drew loves to dip those crab legs into butter. I swear if I wasn't looking he would of drank that stuff. Gross! After dinner, we found a nice ice cream shop and got some cones and walked along the beach. I saw this sign, does this make any sense to you?

Same restaurant serving Mexican & Sushi? HUH??? I was confused. Anyhoo, ot got dark very quickly so we called it a night and headed back to the hotel. We watched a couple movies went to bed.

The next morning (check out day), we first got a quick brunch before heading South to Tillamook. I wanted to visit the cremery and have their ice cream and buy some squeaky cheese. My friends, Anita & Alisha, introduced me to squeaky cheese and I fell in love with that stuff. I had to get some!!! But before the trip, Drew saw this the day before and wanted to try it:

Trivia Night at the M's

This past Tuesday (Drew's b-day), my close high school friend, Ryan (aka RB) asked if we would be interested in going to the M's game on this day. Apparently it was Trivia Night and who better to have on your team but the most genius baseball fan we know... Drew! With RB's friends and Drew and his good friend, Anthony, there was a team of 6 guys.

One hour before the game, trivia started in the Ellis Pavllion which is located right next to the 3rd base side entrance on the field level. The team with the most correct gets 8 upgraded front row seats!!!! I knew we had a great chance... between Carl & Drew... I knew they had it and guess what... WE WON!!!!!!!!!!

They gave us these shirts that said "Mariner's Genius"

We are SO cool!!! What a special b-day treat for Drew!!!! Only problem was there were 9 of us total with wives/girlfriends, so during the night we did some switching so everyone had a chance to sit in the seats.

Plus as a special b-day treat, I got Drew a birthday package with the M's. We got a bag, birthday baseball, $25 gift card to Ivar's, $5 gift card for concessions & a message to be on the scoreboard. I'm really sad that I didn't have my camera ready because I missed taking a pic of it, but Drew saw it... I swear he did. It said "Happy Birthday Drew! Enjoy this year, soon 30 will be here. Love, Lana".

Overall it was a great night flled with b-day celebrations & fun. But just to show how close we were:

M's Game with Kimmie & Colby

Last Friday, we took Kimmie and Colby to the M's game. Needless to say they are having a rebuilding year but the game was still fun to watch and they won! Whoo Hoo!

They are so cute. They had Colby's parents watch Elleanor. Elleanor had her first chance at the game 2 days later (see her post). Kim was wearing some kick butt shoes in Red. She bought a pair of WSU socks (I rather have them be husky socks but she's a coug graduate so I guess it'll ok).

The night turned really chilly and I brought my new hat that I made. It's a cable hat with a ribbed edge (found the pattern on Raverly.com... great site). It matched really well with my Moose jersey and Iowa jacket. I'm so ready for winter!

This is the same photo we use for our blog (off to the side) but I think I never told anyone where or when this picture was taken. This picture was taken about 16 years ago when Drew and I first met back in middle school. Back then, Drew and I "went out" and continued to stay friends afterwards and this picture was taken at our first dance together in 7th grade. Who would have thought back in 6th grade my friend would ulitmately become my husband. Happy 29th birthday! To celebrate we are going to the Mariner game (I know SHOCKING) but it's trivia night. Double whammy of fun! I think on Thursday, Drew's baseball buddies are going to take him out for a birthday dinner. Can't wait. Love you!

Phew, what a busy week. Not only was I playing Battle of the Sexes everyday, but it was also my birthday week! What a perfect combination.

It started on Aug 15th, where my two "girls" took me out for a pre-birthday dinner.

They have grown up SO much. I can't believe that Ashley is already 6 & Sydney is almost 12. I have known them for over 10 years! Ashley made me a beautiful card & they got me a notepad & gift card to buy myself a book. What a treat!

Plus they ordered my first raw oyster! I put some ginger sauce on top, it was yummy!

Didn't think I would let myself have all the fun... Drew had one too!

Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

Next birthday celebration was from Kimmie (No You're Funny blog). During lunch on Thursday, we went and got Pedi/Manis and then she treated me to a Phad Thai lunch. LOVED IT!

My fingers and toes are the same color and they thank you!!!!

Then Friday night, Drew and I went out to my favorite restaurant, The Melting Pot. What's not to love about a 4 course fondue dinner?

Happy Birthday to me!

On Saturday, I hung out with my long time friend from Japan, Lori. It just happened to be the same weekend of my birthday when she was available to see me. What a coincidence!! Lori and I were best friends back in elementary school and her family moved away to Japan at the end of 4th grade. We have been pen pals ever since and wrote each other all the way until college. After college, we lost track of each other but recently found each other through classmates.com (I have NO clue how I got signed up but she found me and we are back writing each other). The power of the internet still amazes me! Call us tourists... we were walking around Greenlake just catching up when we saw the paddle boats. We both knew we had to do it!

He’s up first:

3) What % of women would give up sex to lose 20lbs? He got this wrong, it’s 75%.

Crap... I have my work cut out for me. I have to get at least 2 questions to move on.

Sorry for not posting back since my first post. I bet you all are DYING to know what happened during my next several rounds of Battle of the Sexes. That's right... SEVERAL which means, yes I'm a stud and know my "man" questions.

Monday's topic - ???? don't remember, I'm sorry!
I played against the current champion. He was going for his 8th victory... so the pressure was on. I was up first and I don't remember all the questions but I know I got 2 correct.
Then it was his turn... and he LOST! I bet the defending champ. Here's to Victory #2

Tuesday's topic - skinny dipping (where they come up with these topics... who knows)
So I played a new challenger today. He was a teacher from Olympia. He was up first, and again bad memory, but one question was what percentage of women want to see Hugh Jackman skinny dip? He got this right, it’s 95%. but overall he got 2 right.

So I need to get at least 2 right to continue my quest. I'm up and same questions but male version and overall, I got 2 right. Here's to Victory #3!!!!

Wednesday's topic - thongs... again really???
This time I remember all the questions....

So Mike the person from yesterday, was up first:

So it’s my turn to get 2 or more correct to continue.

Crazy morning...

On Thursday, I should have bought a lottery ticket... I swear I was lucky that day....

Before I went into the office, I met up with one of my co-workers, Dan, who had to drop his car at the detail place. I live about 2 minutes from my office and about 2 minutes from the detail place so it was very convienent for me to help him out. Anyhoo, as I was waiting in the car for him, I usually only listen to 2 radio stations (if that) because my commute is super short, well I think I was listening to Star 101.5 (local station) at the right time and right place. Kent (radio DJ) said, "Time to play Battle of the Sexes. We need a woman, so call now."

I thought to myself sitting in the car, what the heck.... mind you I have called the radio station before and have been on the air. That was like 4 years ago when we had the worst blackout in the Seattle area and I called in to give suggestions on where to eat and get food as everything was closed except the area I was in. Anyways, so I call and instead of getting a busy tone, I get, "Hello Star 101.5. You are it!" I couldn't believe it. The first things that came out of my mouth were "haha, you have to be kidding me!"

So they get all my information to get me formalized into their system and then it was game time. I was facing the champion from the days before who was going for his 8th victory. The questions were all about what famous people did in their early years before becoming famous (they were really hard). My 3 celebrities were Johnny Depp, Bill Clinton & Bill Gates. Who knew Bill Clinton sold vaccum cleaners... guess you learn something new each day. Well I got 0 right so I'm thinking to myself, I'm screwed... well I guess the questions were super tough because the champion got all his questions wrong so we are back on Monday morning to battle it out again. WHOO HOO!!! Already for calling in, I won prizes....

This is crazy!!!!

Matt & Katy had their beatuiful baby girl on August 5th. She was 1 month early, but came out strong and kicking and both parents and baby are doing well. Can't wait to meet her. She's beautiful!!!

Baby Jones shower

Remeber this post. I finally got it finished and just in time for Kiersten's shower on Sunday. I have known Ryan (Kiersten's huby) for over 14 years. He one of my cloest high school friends and I can't wait to be an "auntie.

Here is Megan & Katie (Kiersten sister & sister in law). They were the hosts of the shower and did an excellent job. Fun games, good food and overall a great time.

Thoughout the shower were weren't allowed to say the word "baby". If someone caught you, you had to give up one of your baby toys around your neck. I lost both my toys within the first 2 minutes. I'm really bad at games.

Another game was to guess how many diapers were in the cake. I lost by a lot. Just wasn't my lucky day. Definately not buying a lottery ticket.

Here are some of the girls drawing on fabric blocks. Each block had a theme, boat, mountain, tree or clouds. You were to draw on a block so it will be sewn together as a quilt for the baby.

Seafair 2010

For the past 4 years, Drew and I have told each other we wanted to do seafair. I guess with our wedding anniversary on the same wedding as Seafair, it's hard for us to make it. Well this year, we both made an agreement and said that this year was the year to go, and boy am I glad we did. I was totally a kid in the candy store all day. hee hee

We took the shuttle which saved us a ton on parking (note to anyone going... do this. Parking costs $20-$30 and you have to park either on top of people's yards or along a random far off street. Shuttle is the way to go).

As you enter, you get a sense of what kids like to do. I couldn't help it... I had to give a fist bump to the lego man. Too bad my eyes were closed, this would have made an excellent christmas card. Sorry mom.

Sad to say, but he was taller than me. Oh Lego Man, what is your secret on growing an inch?

Well after kids wonderland, we went straight to the pit area. We got tickets through my office from one of our truckers who has 3 hydros racing at Seafair.

So close you can smell the action. After the practice run, I was able to get one of the pit crew to take us around to see the hydros. I was super excited.

This is the cream of the crop hydro out of the 3. Bob (who is standing behind us) was the nice pit crew that took us around. Thanks Bob.

After our tour around, I had to take a picture because there was a celebrity siting!!!!

This is "Big Lo". He is a icon at our Seahawk games. I see him on TV all the time holding up the "Sea Fence" sign and I thnk he has an action figure made of himself...

What do you know... I love Google.

After I calmed down, it was time for blue angels. Too bad the weather wasn't better and my camera had batteries. We were only able to get 1 picture of it.

I have finally caught up on my blog. PHEW... FINALLY. Sorry for the delay. Here's what we did 2 weeks ago....

Typically our Sundays are very low key and relaxing. Out of the blue, Drew decided to take me to the Seattle Aquarium. I have never been and I wanted to experience it so what better time to do it.

We first started off grabbing lunch... looking at this pic, can you guess where we went?

That's right... we went to Ivars!!!

Boy was there a BIG line. I guess we made it right during the rush. I always forget that you have to yell out your order then wait for it then get your soup. I ordered their famous clam chowder.. my favorite. Drew had the 4 piece fish meal. YUM YUM!

I don't know why, but I like taking pictures of Drew right when he has his mouth full.

Good thing we stopped here. I was able to find a pressed penny machine and I of course always have 51 cents on hand to make one. Always have to add to my collection.

I'm so excited!!!! The picture of the penny turned out really bad. It was just an image of a totem pole with "Ye Olde Curiousity Shop" around it. Super cool!!!!

Continuing our walk.... perfect photo op time! I guess you have to be "this tall" to stand next to it. I think I'm almost there. What do you think?

The aquarium was really nice and fun. Loved the beaver. We became friends that day. After the aqarium, we walked up the street towards the market. I had to get my honey sticks!!!!

Dinner/Joker

Ryan and Kiersten came over last week for some dinner/joker action. I didn't take much pictures of the night except for 1 (I know I'm super lame). Kiersten is only 10 weeks away until "D" day. She's pregnant... WHOO HOO and they are to a baby boy named ______??? They are keeping that a secret... I was hoping that it was girl so they can name it Lana but a girl can dream. Overall, Kiersten is glowing and they told us the best news of the night. They are moving home! Ryan got a new job transfer to a new branch here on the "eastside" and so they will be offically back by the end of the year which means more dinner/game nights.

FYI... I'll take more baby bump shots at her baby shower which is coming up next weekend. So watch out for a post on that later.

Anyhoo, the night turned out super fun. We had my favorite new meal of Greek Steak Pita pockets... SUPER GOOD!!! We ate the entire meal and had no leftovers... it was THAT good. And it was time for some joker action.

Too bad Kiersten's hand weren't a little higher. You could see her cute bump. She likes it but hates it because she feels fat. Silly I know.

Afterwards we played a few more games and it was time for bed. Thanks for coming over... can't wait to see you next weekend!

Congrats to our good friends, Derek & Caroline who just got married July 24th. This image above was their "logo" for the wedding. It was definitely one of the most unique receptions I have ever been to. (Note... only a few friends & family were invited to the wedding ceremony. We came for the reception.) During the reception, there were planned events and skits and "talents" that happened throughout the wedding which you had to audition for. This entire wedding was very fun and playful which is just like Derek & Caroline.

First up was the receiving line to meet the bride and groom. Derek is wearing a traditional Filipino formal shirt which we saw a lot of men wearing. Caroline looks beautiful in her dress. Simple & vintage, it screams Caroline. The receiving line into the hall, turned into this:

Soul train anyone? You had to dance into the wedding hall to enter. Next were introductions and explaining to people how tonight's reception will work. There was a projector on the wall that had "Now on" and "Coming up" so everyone would know what was happening.

Drew's new baseball season has begun unfortunately his team isn't too hot. They are 0-6 and are the bottom of the division, but at least Drew is playing and having fun, right? I was really worried because his back tends to flare up around this time, but I think it is safe to say... he has no more pains because he is:

Playing catcher! I had to take a picture of this as proof... No one would believe me who has seen Drew at his worst.

Plus he's batting & running with the entire team. Look at that swing.

I don't want to jinx this so everyone knock on wood 3 times, throw some salt over your left shoulder and take your rabbit foot and rub it until the hair comes off. So watch out major leagues.. Drew is back!

It's baby season again. We have 2 more babies due before the end of the year.

First up is Ryan and Kiersten (remember this post?) are excpecting their first child in the beginning of October. Initially, they both decided not to find out the gender of the baby which is why I bought the fabric I did. I already knew I would making a quilt for them and found the perfect pattern. The difficult part was finding the fabric as going gender neutral is hard to find. Luckily I found this:

"Chrip!" by Katie Hennigar. It has shades of blues, greens, browns, yellows, pinks with tiny birds. Cute huh?

So I started to make my quilt, sample of a block:

And ended up with this:

I put cream borders around and the backing is cream and I think I'm going to bind it with either green or brown.

Well, I just found out yesterday that they both couldn't wait and found out that they are going to be having a boy. Would this quilt still work for a boy? I'm debating as it would work but it might not because of the pinks. I'm nervous and might make another quilt entirely with more boyish fabric but I don't know. This is where my parnoid state comes which Drew hates. hee hee

Next baby is for Doug and Bri my brother-in-law/sister-in-law. They are due in December and already know they will be having a boy and everything will be themed... can you guess which theme?... hint... think their wedding. I couldn't find any baseball fabric, but I did find this:

Seven Seven (07/07)

The number 7 has been my lucky number I think since middle school. I guess it was an omen because today is 07/07 and was my very FIRST jazzercise class I taught.

The weather was GORGEOUS which made me a little nervous because our facility has NO air conditioning so I was very weary about having a good crowd, but around 20 people showed up and came to workout and support me. It was great!

I was super nervous and I made sure I was there super early to get everything set up perfectly! Kim my "wingman" came early to calm me down and I couldn't help it... perfect photo op!

Aren't we so cute? I had my outfit picked out for about 2 weeks. haha it's like the first day of school all over again!

Plus I had on earrings made by Kimmie:

She made them (yes MADE them... she's so talented!!) for me when I passed my certification. I LOVE THEM!

So class started and everything was going really well until my mic went out. I guess my battery life is EXTREMELY short... it was the first time I ever used it but the battery has been in my headset for over 2 months with no use. Maybe that's why it went out. huh? Oh well, I just kept going and my wingman helped me out and got me a new battery and it was back to normal. After class, a lot of people came up to me to congratulate me on a job well done... I love having support and fans. However my #1 fan surprised me.... when I came out of class, I opened my car and found this:

So right after Cirque du Soleil, Drew and I went home to pack for our weekend get-away to Kansas for the MAIN EVENT.... Doug and Bri's wedding. Yes that is correct... my brother-in-law (aka, Drew's older brother) Doug is getting married!

I guess it's safe for me now to announce that in March, Doug and Bri found out they were pregnant. It sped a few things up (hence the wedding) but everything turned out very well and it was overall a very fun weekend.

Drew and I flew into Kansas City, Missouri (don't confuse it with Kansas City, Kansas) and met up with the the other 2 groomsmen, Steve and Mike. Mind you, we are all from the West Coast and love our west cost weather, coming into Kansas where the temp was 95 degrees + 100% humidity was crazy. Talk about learning to sweat in a matter of seconds! So we hussled our way out of the airport to the rental car and drove to Topeka where the hotel was at. The sign at the hotel greeted us:

Mind you the sign does read "Holiday Inn" however everyone knows this hotel by the "Holi-dome" because it has a water feature inside. Fancy smancy!

We got checked in but immediately turned around to get to the church for the rehearsal. Now I'm not a small town girl by any means and Topeka is a small town, but when we got to the church in Rossville, Kansas, I was BLOWN away. That is one SMALL town. I think they have 1 stop light but it's really not a light, just a flashing light cautioning traffic to slow down at the intersection. The wedding was very baseball themed so the wedding party all had shirts made:

Mark, the pastor, doing his thing. Mark was a really funny and nice man. Plus he could swing a great bat, the rehearsal dinner was a softball game. Bri is starting show a little bit. I think she's now 15 wks along and it's a boy named Luke Allen.

After the rehearsal, it was softball game time. I didn't take any pictures here, but the groom's family kicked some major butt being that we were outnumbered 10 to 1. Our strong 11 player team defeated the bride's 30 roster team 25-5. Then it was time to hang out with the groomsmen and family and off to bed for the big day!

The next day (Saturday) was pretty quiet. Went to a jazzercise class, worked out my set, Drew was golfing at this time, had lunch with the family and went to the church for pictures.

Only shot I got. Can you guess what are the wedding colors? Then it was the ceremony then reception. Because I was part of the ceremony, I wasn't able to take any pictures, but when I get some I'll try and post them.

Kooza!

The second event of the week was watching Kooza at Marymoore Park in Redmond. They host Cirque Du Soleil each year and this year was the show:

WOW that's one big tent!

Picture from the Cirque du Soleil website. This was the Wheel of Death act. This was the scariest act I saw. I was afraid of them falling. My heart skipped many beats during this one.

During intermission, I found this beautiful mask that matched my outfit. It was so pretty and I wanted to buy it but when I saw the price tag of $599, I gently took it off and put it back. Didn't want to break it!

WOW, it's been one BUSY week for us. I finally managed to find some time to catch everyone up on our fun!

It started on Wednesday where Drew and I had Mariner tickets to see the Cubbies! We originally asked Kimmie & Colby to come with us, but with it being Elleanor's first birthday celebration as well as we have event number 2 (you'll see) with them on Thursday, they gave the tickets back to us and Lammy and Chae joined us in the festivities.... (Kim & Colby, we will save Joe's and the M's for next time!!! Missed you at the game)

Of course we first stopped to Joe's hot dog stand. It's starting to be a tradition for us. I'm like their walking advertisement... it's the BEST and if you haven't tried it, you definitely don't know what you are missing!

Wrapped perfectly to take inside Safeco. I can't wait to open it and dig in!

WOW... It's Apolo Ohno throwing out the first pitch! He was somewhere signing autographs during the first 2 innings. Did you know that Russ, one of Drew's baseball teammates, went to school with Apolo and are still good friends? I wanted to use that as a way to strike up a conversation with him but Drew knew I would embarrass him so we stayed put.

Thursday was my BIG day to audition to become a Jazzercise instructor. I wasn't very nervous but when I got there I got butterflies in my stomach. Good thing I brought my good luck charm. Kim's dauther, Phoebe, made me a ribbon good luck charm that I wore around my right ankle.

I think it did the charm because I passed!!!

When I got into the car, I texted all my friends and family and told them the great news. Called Drew from the road and talked to him and when I came home, I was greeted with this:

I was so shocked! Drew decorated the entire living room and also bought me gifts. Plus Kim brought over a gift & flowers as well. I was so touched. Kim got me a new aerobic top and Drew got me:

A workout band/case for my nano. I have been asking for one since I got it back in January.

Paul & Karly

Yeah for weddings! The reason for our Portland trip was for Paul & Karly. They chose to have a "destination" wedding in Portland and it was so much fun. It was in the heart of downtown Portland at the Adrianna Ballroom. It was an older building but it had a lot of class and style. This was my first traditional Jewish ceremony I have been too. Paul is jewish but Karly is not. So they blended their 2 backgrounds together during their ceremony. It was so cool to watch it.

Here's the happy couple under the huppah. It's hard to see here but they had both a rabbi & a pastor. The pastor was Karly's older brother.

The signing of the marriage documents. Instead of signing after the wedding, they signed it during. This is part of the jewish tradition.

The rabbi is blessing them. I didn't take pics of the entire ceremony but there was a part they did the Seven Circles where the bride circles the groom seven times. Paul and Karly chose to do half each. So they circled each other 3 1/2 times. As you can tell... first Jewish wedding... SO NEAT! After the blessing was the kiss and the breaking of the glass! MAZEL TOV!!!! (TIME TO PARTY!!!)

Paul & Karly entered and were boosted on chairs. Amy who was at our table recalled her moment on the chairs. She was so frightened. I think Karly was too but only when they were setting her down. Went a little crooked.

I wished I took a You Tube of the bouqet toss. It was HILARIOUS! Do you remember that part in Clueless of the toss? Well it was very similar. The girl that got it did this weird grab and hook thing with her arm to get the bouquet. She was so excited she got it but then she screamed even louder when her boyfriend got the garter. I think she believes it fate!

So all night I was trying to get a shot of Paul's uncle. He has a beard that is AWESOME! So using my ninja photo skills, I was able to get this small shot. It's hard to tell, but imagine the mustashe just like the side photo. WOW... Drew should grow one... maybe? (NOPE!)

Amy and I are shoe whores. She loves her Enzo and me... my red Michael Jacobs are my favorite! But I did get 2 more pairs in Portland. Some girls are purse girls... I'm just a shoe person. hahaha

Best shot... The "Jew crew" Growing up Drew was friends with all the Jewish people. From right to left: Drew, Dave, Paul & Anthony. All grew up together in the same elementary, middle, high & college. I think Drew was just the adopted jewish member as he was the only one not Jewish.

Portland weekend

This past weekend (Memorial Day weekend), Drew and I went to Portland not only to visit but our close high school/elementary school friend, Paul, was getting married. We took full advantage that entire weekend to be tourist by hitting up all the local and fun shops & areas.

First we got checked in on Saturday and walked towards the convention center. We stayed across the river and it so happened that our hotel was across the street from Red Robin... Drew said it wasn't on purpose... uh huh? :) Anyhoo, the Max which is Portland's transit/lightrail system was AWESOME. Seattle definately needs one because we were able to take that the entire weekend for free since we were in the "free zone" and travelled back and forth to downtown Portland and back to our hotel. So conveinent!

So our first stop was Powell's Book store. We went there before last year when Drew, Lammy, Mike and I went for a visit. It was HUGE. And here's proof... I had to take 3 pictures just to get the entire front of the store!

Next Drew and I were getting hungry so we stop by Kenny & Zuke's Delicatessen. The food was AMAZING. Drew and I had both had a double decker sandwich and only ate half but we took the rest of it with us. The hotel had a fridge so we had it another day. Totally worth the double decker.

I don't know what it is, but Drew and I just like taking pictures of us eating.

After linner (it was a combo), we headed towards the shopping area in dowtown (my favorite part). I took full advantage of the tax free spree by buying myself some shoes. Definately my weakness.

Then we walked around downtown just getting lost to see the sights. And just in case we get lost, we could ask this guy:

It just made me more lost. So we just called it a day. The next day was the wedding day but we used the morning/early afternoon to see the rest of Portland. First thing was to find a nice restaurant for some Dim Sum. Drew and I heard they have an awesome Chinatown... well to us it wasn't that great. We couldn't find a restaurant. Maybe we didn't look hard enough, but we did find the Chinese Gardens. We didn't go in but we took a picture:

This is the entrace. Pretty neat huh? After Chinatown, we headed a couple blocks to the market.

This is just 1 part of it. The other side was across the street by the waterfront. Drew and I found some food there and ate by the water. I love street food because I get to have my favorite... Greek Gyro. Yum!

Took advantage of the sights for a nice pic. Then it was time for dessert... donuts. Portland has this shop called Vodoo Donuts which has been on tv so deciding we were going to make our Portland experience tourist filled we went and stood in line. 45 minutes later, this is the closest we got:

See that tiny sign on the top that's oval. That's the entrance. For 1 donut... not worth the wait. Drew and I gave up and went to the hotel to nap before the wedding. The wedding (see other post) was amazing. Good company and so beautiful. The next day... time to head back home. Sigh... Vodoo, we will come back for you!

BEST hotdog joint in Seattle! Make sure you ask for cheese & onions. MMmmmmm!

The game started out really bad. I think they were already down 2-0 in the first inning, but man oh man did the M's finally find their bats. The game started at 7:10 and ended at 11:15. LONG game and final score, M's won 15-8. WOW lots o' runs! Next game for us is June 23rd, let's see if the M's will keep their bats going.

Sunday night dinner

I love going over to Lammy's place for dinner. It's the time when I can get my Korean food fix and Sunday night was a mecca feast! Chae's mom made some Kalbi (Korean BBQ short ribs) which Lammy cooked up and we had with lettuce, rice and sides and Lammy also made some Kim Chee soup thing which was fantastic! I couldn't resist but take a picture of the beautiful presentation Lammy set up at the table. SO YUMMY! I'm already craving more... maybe this weekend I'll make some Kalbi of my own. Thanks Mia!

These past 2 months have been crazy for me. After a year of consideration, I finally pulled the trigger and decided that this year will be my year to go through Jazzercise workshop to become an official instructor. It's a very long, tedious and expensive process, but I'm still enjoying doing jazzercise and I can't wait to teach my first class.

So to recap my past 2 months of training, it started at the end of April when I put through my waiver to the district manager. Then I had to go to a movement screening but because I already went through it last year, I didn't have to go through that part again. Then I got the email a month ago that I am officially signed up for the June workshop. So mark your calendars... June 10th is the BIG day!!! The workshop is overall 2 1/2 days of training but the first day (June 10th) is the main event where I have to preform and teach 3 routines in front of the panel of trainers and judges. Once I pass that I will attend 2 additional days of training about learning about being an instructor and how to put together my entire 1 hour set and learn the rules and regulations on everything. But I won't know which 3 routines I will have to teach until I get there and overall I have 10 routines to learn. Plus on top of that I have to do an online examination about fitness and muscle parts and pass that with an 80% or higher score which I just took and passed over the weekend and just today I got my wireless microphone. Isn't it pretty?

Too bad I didn't have a speaker. I would have recorded myself doing some jumping and skipping but that will for another post. Check, Check one... is this mic on???

Can't wait to use it in my first class which by the way is July 7th. (btw my lucky number is 7... this has to be an omen of good things to come... 7/7, you can't get any luckier than that. I need to buy a lottery ticket that day)

Date night!

Last night Drew and I went on a date night. We have been meaning to go back to the arcade by the mall we live by and play air hockey again. Drew thinks he's the "man" when playing that game and I had to prove him wrong. Yesterday before I left for work, I told Drew, "You better be ready tonight because it's ON like Donkey Kong!" The competitive spirit was already in the air. hahahaha

So when we got there... first things first.. time to play some hockey! I wished I recorded the game because it was one of the quickiest air hocket games I ever played but in the end....

Score - Drew 6 & Lana 7!!! Who's the "man" now? (I guess I rained on my winning parade because the next game, Drew killed me 7 to 1... don't need a picture for that one)

Not to shabby of a score. Usually I suck at this game.

Drew and I have been mastering our bowling skills these past months being on a couple's bowling league. I think we are much better in real life... our scores were only 117 & 116 (guess who was 117... hint it the one with the "blue" bowling ball. HAHAHA!) After playing games, we went to the area where you get tickets for playing token games and you can trade your tickets for prizes. Drew and I found a game which we rocked on! No skill involved, just put your coin and have it slide down a tube into a slot. Each slot is worth a certain number of tickets and...

Val & Jason

Last weekend, Drew and I attended our first wedding of the year. It was for our friends, Valerie & Jason. Remember Snow White costume I made in October, that was for Val. Lammy was one of Val's bridesmaides. She looked very nice that night.

This is Mary Ann and Andrew. She is one of Lammy's close girlfriends and was also a bridesmaid. Andrew was one of the groomsman and it to happens that they walked in together and they are also dating in real life. Crazy how small the world is!

During the cocktail hour. Val & Jason did the traditional Korean wedding ceremony. It was my first one I've ever seen. That's Jason's parents on the right side. Doesn't his mom look beautiful?!

These were our wedding favors found at our seats. It's traditional sweet rice treat called duk. I ate mine right away! I was hungry but dinner was served afterwards. We had a 4 course meal and everything was delicious! I ordered steak while Drew had fish. We shared to have surf & turf but mainly Drew ate it all. I got too full.

This is Eva. She was the flowergirl. I made her sash that goes around her waist using leftover fabric from Lammy's dress. It was so she could match with the bridesmaids. She was so cute. We played together during the reception. I'm so drawn to kids.

Lammy & Chae got a new member to join our family about a month ago. Lucky is the cutest thing in the world. Very smart too. She will do anything for some tiny pieces of food. I think her new trick is spin and she's mastered that. So good and well behaved! How can you not love that face?

Productive night

Tonight Drew and I are having our friends, Anthony & Amy, over for dinner. This dinner has been a work in progress as we have changed this date now 3 times... guess 4th times the charm. Since they are vegetarian eaters, I decided to make my favorite manicotti recipe (found here). I made this yesterday night after jazzercise, plus made some pesto pea pasta salad, cleaned my entire kitchen, reorganized my fridge, and on top of that, I saw the old bananas on the counter and said... let's just make some bread for tonight. PHEW what a productive night. I can't wait for dinner... doesn't this look good?

The manicotti is made using no-boil flat lasagna noodles and you roll it up with the ricotta filling. YUM!

Topped with homemade marinara. UMMM... doesn't it make your mouth water?

This past Wednesday, Drew and I went to the Mariner's game. It was totally on a spur of the moment as Kimmie was thinking about getting some tickets, but wasn't 100% sure, but I tugged on her arm and got her to get the tickets so we can all go, but in the end unfortuneatly, Kimmie couldn't make it. Elle was alittle under the weather but Colby's momma got to come with us instead. Still was a great game and the seats were AWESOME!!!! Felix threw a complete game and Mariner's won. WOO HOO!

Crab night!

This weekend my parents decided to surprised me, Drew, Chae & Lammy and came into Seattle unexpected. They called all of us on Wendesday afternoon and told us that they are at the airport and will be in Seattle in 5 hours so come get us. We were thrilled and excited to see them because they haven't been here in over 2 years (since Drew's graduation) and who doesn't like to see their parents?

Well, yesterday night we did our traditional Chinese crab dinner in Chinatown. We went to Sea Garden restaurant which was a very nice restaurant compared to our typical Chinese places in Chinatown and there wasn't even a fish tank! I know SHOCKING! But we got to order our 4 crabs for dinner and the sauces they made it with were out of this world!

2 crabs were made in this sauce which is ginger sauce.

And when it comes to crab, I have NO shame. You just dive right in and just start getting your hands fingers into the crab and just go for it! It was amazing and so tasty.

Wished I can have a do-over

Do you ever have one of those days where you would like to have a do-over? or just wished someone had a time machine so you can go back and warn yourself not to do something? Well, that was my Saturday morning.

I woke up like I usually do for morning Jazzercise (oh did I mention that I'm doing my certification to become an instructor in June?... I'll save that for a differnent blog post)... so I was getting ready, got in the car and drove my small 5 minute drive to the community center. Mind you I've done this drive a HUNDRED THOUSAND times and never had I ever did anything to hurt myself or the car (knock on wood) well, I guess the gods or the higher up beings hated me for that brief 10 second part of my drive when I ended up with a flat tire. CRAP CRAP CRAP! Great, just the BEST way to start my morning. So I pulled over to the side and saw my tire, it didn't look THAT bad but I knew that it still needed to be changed but thought that I could make it to the community center. So I started back on the road and got to the center where I started to get out my spare to change my tire. I felt like such a big girl... I changed my tire with no help, did it all on my own and didn't have anyone to help me... ok well I did like 80% of it. A guy came by and help replace my tire and screw on the bolts but I did the rest which counts for something right? Well at this point it was 9:15AM, I already missed Jazzecise, oh well, time to get a new tire. Drove to the local tire shop, where they didn't have my tire in stock but the other local store only 20 minutes away had it. So I went on my little trek to the other store which had my tire in stock, they took the car into the back and at this point I only thought... new tire easy only $100 bucks, no problem. Well I guess I spoke to soon because when they double checked my wheel on their balancing machine, it turns out that my wheel is completely busted and needs a full replacement! SERIOUSLY!!!! (insert here... "someone please kill me now") Well, I had a couple options laid out to me and the only one that they recommended me doing was to buy a new wheel because why would I replace 3 completely good wheels just for this one. Unfortunately, to replace my wheel, I can only get a Factory OEM manufactured wheel that comes only from the dealership because my car (Nissan) makes wheels customed for their cars. So 1 wheel from the factory is going to cost around $500 and this is just for a wheel! YIKES... what happened to just $100 bucks? oh well... at this point I wanted my car fixed and back to 1 piece. So after calling around the local parts/dealerships, NO one has my wheel in stock and the earliest they can have it delivered from California would be next Thursday! Plus on top of that, I would need to get my car realligned and a full inspection to make sure the car is running smoothly and correctly and in the end my 10 second opps is now going to cost me roughly $800 bucks (insert here.... "someone kill me NOW... PLEASE, pretty please?")

So now I'm carless well not really car-less. I'm just running on 3 good tires and 1 spare and my spare is tiny so it makes my entire car tilt and the tire place told me that I shouldn't drive that much on my car so techincally I'm carless for the moment. The only good thing about this whole experience was that Chae, Lammy's boyfriend, used to work for a car dealership so he knows a lot about cars and parts. He told me other options to look for a wheel without having to go through the dealership so I ended up finding my wheel on ebay for only $160. (So now my little oops is only $460.... better than $800 but still crappy). And the wheel should be here by Friday the 9th or Monday the 12 at the latest. Still need to go back to the tire shop to get my tire installed, car realligned and inspected and hopefully in about 1 1/2 weeks I should be back up and running.

Overall, my Saturday morning started fine but in the end all I wished was for a DO-OVER! Happy Easter?
